व्याकरणरूप वाग्देवता स्तुतिः

1. She, by whom the Speech, transformed into grammatical form, shines forth; in whom the *saṁjñā*s are perfected, the *paribhāṣā*s, *atideśa*s, and *vibhāṣā*s beautifully play; by whose *pada-vidhi* the *sup*s and *tiṅ*s, though appearing asleep, attain a certain awakened state and nourishment of the verbal root; and who, through the union of inner thought and speech in manifold ways, generates the state of oneness of meaning in these (words) – She is the grammar, the king of all sciences, from whom flow *taddhita*s, *tat-kṛti*s, and all transformations of speech.
